TARBOLTON, a burgh of barony and village of Scotland, Ayrshire, 7 miles N.E. of Ayr, and 8 S. of Kilmarnock. It spreads over a considerable area, and contains, along with many neat houses, a handsome parish church, Free and United Presbyterian churches, several schools, a library, and a savings bank. Manufactures of needlework, cotton, woolen, and linen cloth are carried on here. Pop. of the parish 2824.
