VELEZ BLANCO, a town of Spain, Andalusia, in the province and 60 miles N.N.E. of Almería. It is an old and ruinous place, standing on a hill, and defended by a small castle. There are here a church, town-hall, prison, schools, manufactures of woollen and linen cloth, hats, soap, and tiles; and an active trade in wool. Pop. 7546.
