VEREJA, a town of European Russia, in the government and 62 miles W.S.W. of Moscow, on both sides of the Protva. It is an ancient fortified town, and has four churches, important tile-works, and tanneries; and it carries on a considerable trade in agricultural produce. Pop. 5310.
