VILVOORDEN (Fr. VILVOIRDE), a town of Belgium, in the province of S. Brabant, 6 miles N.N.E. of Brussels. It has a large old castle, now used as a prison, a fine Gothic church, several schools and almshouses. Calicoes, leather, tobacco, vermicelli, and glue are made here; and there are also breweries and bleaching fields. Pop. 5200.
