LABUAN, a small island in the Malay Archipelago, belonging to Britain, and lying off the N.W. of Borneo, about 30 miles N. of the town of that name, in N. Lat. 5. 22, E. Long. 115. 10. It is about 10 miles in length by 5 in breadth. (See BORNEO.) In 1854 the population (exclusive of military) was 1150; revenue, £3535; expenditure, £4307; vessels entered, 555; tonnage, 8682; cleared, 30; tonnage, 8114; value of principal imports, £23,742; exports, £15,382; coal sold, 6805 tons.
