LEIXLIP, a post and fair town of Ireland, pleasantly situated on the River Liffey, in the county of Kildare, about ten miles from Dublin. Near it are the ruins of the church and castle of Confy. The castle of Leixlip is beautifully situated on the banks of the Liffey. In the immediate neighbourhood is situated the well-known waterfall, called the Salmon Leap, which consists of a succession of rocky ledges, on the Liffey, over which the fish dart at one bound. A
