bent-grass, in botany, a genus of the triandra digynia clas. The calyx has two valves, terminated by a beard or ann. There are fifteen species of the agrostis, eight of which are natives of Britain. AGYRTÆ, in Grecian antiquity, a kind of strolling vagabonds, not unlike our modern gypsies.
