or **ALMOND-TREE**, in botany, a genus of the icofandra monogynia clasps. The calyx is divided into five segments; and the corolla consists of five petals. The species are three, viz. the persica, or peach-tree; the communis, a native of Mauritania; and the nana, a native of Asia. Almonds are used in medicine as emollient, &c.
