in botany, a genus of the syngenesia polygamia superflua clas. The receptacle of the anacyclus is peltate; the pappus emarginated; and the seeds have membranaceous edges. There are three species of this genus, viz. the creticus, orientalis, and valentinus, all natives of the east.
