The calyx of the hermaphrodite flower is divided into four parts; it has no corolla; the stamens are four, and the pistillums two; the germen is below the flower. There are two species of anthospermum, viz. the ethiopicum, a native of Ethiopia; and the ciliare, a native of the Cape of Good-Hope.
