The calyx of the male consists of 5 leaves; it has no corolla: The calyx of the female is entire, gaping a little on one side; it has no corolla, but two stigmas, and a double valved capsule inclosed in the calyx. There is but one species of the antidesma, viz. the alexeteria, a native of India.
