in botany, a genus of the dodecandra monoecia clasps. The asarum is quinquifid, and rests on the germen; it has no corolla. The species are four, only one of which, viz. the europaeum, is a native of Britain. It is a strong stimulant, and occasions great evacuations, both upwards and downwards.
