in botany, a genus of the pentandria digynia clas. The fruit is oblong and streaked. The species are 10, only one of which, viz., the libanotis or mountain stone-parley is a native of Britain. The root of the athamanta meum or spiguel, a native of Italy, is a useful aromatic and carminative, though little regarded in the present practice.
