Caraway, in botany, a genus of the pentandria tandria digynia clas. The fruit is oblong and striated; the involucrum consists of but one leaf; and the petals are carinated and emarginated. There is but one species, viz. the caroi, a native of Britain. The seeds have an aromatic smell and pungent taste; and are frequently employed as a stomachic and carminative in flatulent cases.
