zoology, a genus of insects belonging to the order of coleoptera. The feelers are like threads, but thicker on the outside; the elytra are margined; and the head is hid under the thorax. There are 31 species of this insect, distinguished principally by differences in their colour.

Cassimere, the capital city of a province of the same name in the Hither India: E. long. 75°, and N. lat. 35°. It was once the capital of a kingdom, and is still sometimes the residence of the Mogul.
