or Bind-weed, in botany, a genus of the pentandria monogygia clas. The corolla is bell-shaped, and plaited; it has two stigmas; and the capsule is bilocular, each cell containing two seeds. There are forty-three species, only three of which are natives of Britain, viz. the arvensis, or small bindweed; the sepium, or great bind-weed; and the soldanella, or sea bind-weed.
