in botany, a genus of the syngenesia polygamia aequalis clas. The receptacle is naked; the calyx is caliculated, with deciduous scales; and the appus is plumose; and furnished with a stipes. The species are fourteen, three of which are natives of Britain, viz.: the teetarum, or smooth succory hawk-weed; the bijennis, or rough succory hawk-weed; and the foetida, or stinking hawk-weed.
