or TEASEL, in botany, a genus of the tetrandria monogyne clas. The common calyx consists of many leaves, and the proper one is above the fruit; and the receptacle is paleaceous. There are three species, all natives of Britain, viz. the sullonum, or manured teazel; the sylvestris, or wild teazel; and the pilosus, or small wild teazel.
