in natural history, a name of a species of fossil coral, composed of a great number of long and slender columns, sometimes round, sometimes angular, joined nicely to one another, and of a starry or radiated surface at their tops. These are found in considerable quantities in the northern and western parts of this kingdom, sometimes in single, sometimes in complex specimens.
