DARNEL, in botany, a genus of the triandra digynia clas. The involucrum consists of one leaf; it has no calix; and the stipula consists of many flowers. There are three species, two of them natives of Britain, viz. the perenne, or perennial darnel gras; and the temulentum, or annual darnel gras.
