in botany, a genus of the syngenesia polygamia superflua clas. The receptacle is naked; it has no pappus; the calyx is hemispherical, and imbricated, with sharp solid margins. There are five species, all of them natives of Britain, viz. The patrinium, or feverfew, which is reckoned good in hysteric cases, the chamomilla, or corn-feverfew, the flowers of which are stomachic; the suaveolens, or sweet-scented feverfew; the inodora, or field feverfew; and the maritima, or sea feverfew.
