the capital of the bishopric of the same name, in the circle of Westphalia: E. long. 7° 40', N. lat. 52° 31'. The territories of this bishopric, which are forty miles long and thirty broad, are subject to its bishop: and this bishopric is alternately held by a protestant and papist, the protestant being always a prince of the house of Brunswick.
