Planimetry, that part of geometry which considers lines and plain figures, without considering their height or depth. See Geometry.
Planisphere, signifies a projection of the sphere, and its various circles on a plane; in which are maps, where-in are exhibited the meridians, and other circles of the sphere, are planispheres.
Plant, is defined to be an organic body, destitute of sense and spontaneous motion, adhering to another body in such a manner as to draw from it its nourishment, and having power of propagating itself by seeds. See Agriculture and Botany.
