It is separated from Calabria, in Italy, by the straights of Messina, which, in the narrowest part, is not seven miles over.

SICYOS; in botany, a genus of the monoeica syngenesia clas. The calix and corolla of the male have each five segments; and there are three filaments; the calix and corolla of the female are the same with those of the male; the stylus is trisid; and the drupa contains one seed. There are two species, none of them natives of Britain.
