or HEAT of the stomach, in medicine, the name of a distemper consisting in a heat or troublesome burning about the pit of the stomach, or its left mouth which sometimes is extended the whole length of the oesophagus, with a prelude or spasmodic constriction, usually attacking the patient by fits.
