a canton of Switzerland, bounded by the canton of Schaffhausen on the north, by the canton of Appen- zel on the east, by Zug and Switz on the south, and by Bern and Lucern on the west; being fifty miles long, and forty broad. Zurich is also the name of the capital city of this canton, situated E. long. 8° 50', and N. lat. 47° 52'. It is likewise the name of a lake, twenty-four miles long, and three broad; at the fourth end of which the city of Zurich stands.
