ACETUM

Volume 1 · 71 words · 1778 Edition

vinegar, the vegetable acid of the chemists. See Vinegar; and Materia Medica, no. 71.

ACETUM Diffusum, distilled vinegar, or spirit of vinegar. See Pharmacy, no. 682.

ACETUM Escharicum, a distilled vinegar, rectified by the help of verdigris. It has obtained this name, because concentrated vinegar creates an appetite.

ACETUM Radicatum, is likewise used to denote concentrated vinegar; but Boerhaave thinks the tartarum regeneratus is the acetum radicatum of the old chemists.
