(Antonine;) or Atuaca, contracted from Atuacae, (Cæsar;) anciently a large and famous city of the Tungris; now a small and inconsiderable village, called Tongeren, in the bishoprick of Liege, to the north-west of the city of Liege, in the territory of Haspengouw, on the rivulet Jecker, that soon after falls into the Maas.
