The calyx of the male consists of five leaves; it has no corolla: The calyx of the female is entire, gaping a little on one side; it has no corolla, but two styli, and a double-valved capsule inclosed in the calyx. There is but one species of the antidesma, viz. the alexiteria, a native of India.
