in rhetoric, makes the third part of a complete exordium, being properly the application, or retrenchment of the protasis. The apodosis is the same with what is otherwise called anaphora; and stands opposed to protasis: e.g., protasis, all branches of history are necessary for a student; anaphora, so that, without these, he can never make any considerable figure; apodosis, but literary history is of a more special use, which recommends it, &c.
