or Bautko, a small but important town in the duchy of Courland, on the frontiers of Poland, with a strong castle built on a rock. It was taken by the Swedes in 1625, and by the Ruffians in 1705, after a bloody battle between them and the Swedes. It is seated on the river Musa, in E. Long. 24° 44' N. Lat. 56° 30'.
