(anc. geog.), a lake of Rhaetia, or Vindelicia which Tacitus includes in Rhaetia. Ammian calls the lake Brigantia. It took its name either from the Brigantii, the people inhabiting on it, or from the adjoining town. Now the lake of Constance, or Bodensee.
