a fortified town of Piedmont, situated on the river Po, about seven miles south of Turin. E. Long. 7. 25. N. Lat. 44. 30. It was taken in 1544, by the French; who demolished the fortifications, but spared the castle. It was also taken, and retaken, in 1691.
