κατάληψις, or Catalepsy, in medicine, a kind of apoplexy; or a drowsy disease, wherein the patient is taken speechless, senseless, and fixed in the same posture wherein the disease first seized him; his eyes open, without seeing or understanding. See (Index subjoined to) Medicine.
