(Geral de), a learned philosopher and historian, born at Paris, made himself known to M. Boissuet, who placed him about the dauphin in the quality of reader. He instructed that young prince with great affluence; and in 1675 was received into the French academy. He wrote a general history of France during the first races of the French kings, in 2 vols.; and six Discourses on the Distinction between Body and Soul, which were printed together in 1702, in quarto. He died in 1684. M. Cordemoi followed the principles of Descartes.
