(William), born at Puimoisson in Provence, in the 13th century, was one of the most knowing lawyers of his time. Pope Martin made him one of his nuncios, and then bishop of Mende and Languedoc. His Speculum Juris gave him the name of Spectator; his second piece was Rationale divinorum officiorum, containing eight books. He wrote several others.
