But here a regard to impartiality obliges us to acknowledge, that we were not then acquainted with Mr Slater's Answer to that performance, in his Original Draught of the Primitive Church; where it is shown, that, at the time Mr Peter King alludes to, bishops had more than one, sometimes many congregations, with their clergy, under their care. As to the absolute validity of his reasoning, however, or how far it is capable of being redargued, we must leave our polemical readers to judge from a perusal of the books themselves.
