(Robert), a famous philosopher, born in 1447. He was fellow of the college of physicians in London, and became a most voluminous writer; he doted greatly on the wonders of chemistry; was a zealous brother of the Rosicrucian order; and his books, which are mostly in Latin, are as dark and mysterious in their language as in their matter. He died in 1657.
