a town of Cornwall, in England, seated on the river Foy, not far from its fall into Foy-haven. Formerly ships came as far up as the town; but the channel is now stopped up. It is a corporation, and sends two members to parliament. They also keep courts here belonging to the stannary; and the county-gaol is likewise here. It is convened by a mayor, 6 capital burgesses, and 17 common-council men. The town consists of about 100 houses; but the streets, though paved, are bad. W. Long. 5° 30' N. Lat. 5° 30'.
