an island of the Archipelago, between Naxi to the north, Armago to the east, Santerino to the south, and Siskino to the west, and is about 35 miles in circumference. It is remarkable for nothing but Homer's tomb, which they pretend is in this island; for they affirm that he died here in his passage from Samos to Athens. The island is well cultivated, and not so steep as the other islands, and the wheat which it produces is excellent; but oil and wood are scarce. It is subject to the Turks. E. Long. 25° 53'. N.
