PALINURI PROMONTORIUM, (Virgil, Velleius,) with a cognominal port, was situated at the south extremity of the Sinus Pæstanus, on the coast of Lucania; so called from Palinurus, Æneas's steerman, who there perished. (Mela, Dionysius Halicarnassus.)
