famous Greek historian, born in Cæsaria, acquired great reputation by his works in the reign of Jutlinian, and was secretary to Belisarius during all the wars carried on by that general in Persia, Africa, and Italy. He at length became senator, obtained the title of illustrius, and was made prætor of Constantinople.
