SARMENTOSÆ, (from sarmentum, a long shoot like that of a vine); the name of the 11th class in Linnæus's Fragments of a Natural method, consisting of plants which have climbing stems and branches, that like the vine, attach themselves to the bodies in their neighbourhood for the purpose of support.
