or **AGYRIUM** (anc. geog.), a town of Sicily in the Val di Demona, near the river Sermus. The people were called *Populus Agyrinensis* by Cicero; *Agyrinus* by Pliny. It was the birth-place of Diodorus Siculus, as he himself testifies; but he calls it *Argyrium*, as it is now called *S. Philippo d'Argirone*, which modern name seems to confirm that *Argyrium* is the true reading.
