(anc. geog.) The Israelites being in the wilderness of Shur, departed from Dophkah, and went to Allush, from whence they proceeded to Rephidim; Num. xxxiii. 13, 14. Eusebius and St Jerom fix Allush in Idumæa, about Gabala or Petra, the capital of Arabia Petraea. In the accounts of the empire, it is situated in the third Palestine; and by Ptolemy, among the cities of Idumæa.
