son of Piannis, king of Egypt; the same with Pharaoh Hophrah in Jeremiah and Ezekiel. He ruined Sidon, and some say he put Jeremiah to death. He thought neither God nor man could dethrone him; which yet was easily done by Amasis, and he himself was strangled by the Egyptians.
