in Antiquity. Livy, lib. vi. speaks of argentati milites, as distinguished from aurati. Aquinas supposes these to have been similar to the argyraspides and chrysalpides; but the descriptions do not quadrature. Livy only represents the argentati as cloathed in white linen coats.
