AXYRIS: A genus of the triandria order, belonging to the monoeica clas of plants; and in the natural method ranking under the 12th order, Holaraces. The calyx of the male is tripartite; it has no corolla. The calyx of the female consists of two leaves; it has two stamens and one seed. The species are four, none of them natives of Britain.
