(anc. geog.) a town of the Reubenites, on the other side Jordan, at mount Foggo, over against Jericho, six miles above Livias. It had a temple sacred to the idol Baal Peor, Numbers xxv. 3, called Beel-Phegor by the Vulgate, interpreted Priapus by Jerome.
