(anc. geog.), a lake of Thrace near Abdera, on which dwelt the Bittones: hence Bistonius Tyrannus is by Lucan used to denote Diomedes king of Thrace, who fed his horses with human flesh; and Bistonius turbo, a wind blowing from Thrace.
